You're probably shocked at how fast dust accumulates in your house. You also probably hate dusting with a passion. Yet, it as to be done. So, here are some tips for making the process quicker.
First of all, when it comes to a room, dust from the top down. Start by dusting cobwebs off the ceiling and then dust high shelves, tables and chairs. Finally, get out the vacuum and do the floor. The reason for that process should be clear. Dust falls and settles as it gets stirred up. So, things that are low to the ground will only get dusty again, if you clean them first.
Another important tip is to use a cloth to dust, wet or dry. Dry cloths attract dust in a steady fashion. Still, dust will also cling easily to a wet cloth. The cloth can be damp. It doesn't need to be soaked. Also, if the cloth gets too dirty, you may need to clean it or use a second cloth before you're done.
As far as reducing dusting, you can help yourself by getting an air filter. A good air filter will reduce dust particles quite a bit. It also helps if you're not a smoker. Furthermore, if you open some windows and air out the place, you're less likely to see dust settled everywhere.
A final tip is if you have too many knick knacks to dust, you may want to get rid of a few. If there are inches of dust on something, you may not need it. You can save yourself a lot of dusting hassles if you minimize the clutter in the space.
